Installing Photovoltaic Panels -- YES You CAN Do It!

Photovoltaic Panels are simply solar cells that are grouped together with wiring and other modules. They can be mounted to varying styles of roofs. The best time to install the panels is when the roof is being built. It is easier to find the rafters and mount the panels safely in that case, then after the roof has been completed.

Kits Make it Easier For You

When installing photovoltaic panels on your roof there are a couple different kits that you can purchase. One of them is for new roofs and the other is for existing roofs. They have different components to ensure safety of the installation. The seller of these panels will have contacts with licensed professionals that can install your kit for you, if you prefer -- a great option for those who are not too handy, or who lack the tools or time to do the installation job themselves. The degree and skill needed to install the panels properly may keep the typical homeowner from installing photovoltaic panels themselves. The modules need to be kept in the boxes until the actual installation time as they shouldn't get wet or touched or stepped on. This will also prevent others, such as children, from touching them and possibly wrecking the wiring inside.

Installations are on the Increase

The desire for installing photovoltaic panels has increased by about 20 to 30 percent annually and so producers have been making a lot more of them to keep up with sales. These are rapidly being used on houses so that electricity costs are brought down. They have been tested to resist all sorts of weather including hail, as well as being treated so that they don't degrade rapidly with use.

The Latest Installation Options

There are now some different ways of installing photovoltaic panels besides just on roofs. Installing photovoltaic panels is now available on free standing units, on a pole that is installed in the ground and on specially-built structures with tracks on it so that during the day the maximum amount of daylight is used. The tracks allow the panels to move with the suns angle during the day.

Whether or not you are installing photovoltaic panels on your roof or using them on another structure, the one thing that is certain is that it will be saving you a lot of money on your electric bill as well as helping to protect the environment.

This stuff is pretty cool, I had to do a project for school (why I came here actually) and it really sparked my interest in solar power. I'm working on a science project now using PV panels, I'm excited to build them myself from what I've read so far it's really easy to get supplies and build them yourself and you can create some interesting shapes too for different projects (doesn't always have to be square)

Thanks for explaining lucidly what photovoltaic panels do. Id heard of these before but never made the connection between solar panels and these.
